The Best COASTAL Maternity Photoshoot Locations in West Sussex

Pregnancy is such a fleeting chapter. It can feel incredibly long while you're in it (especially during those final few weeks!), but before you know it, your tiny baby is in your arms and your bump is just a beautiful memory.

One of the questions I'm asked most often as a West Sussex maternity photographer is:

"Where should we have our maternity photoshoot?"

The wonderful thing about living in West Sussex is that we're completely spoiled for choice. Whether you dream of soft sandy beaches, dramatic dunes or peaceful sunsets by the sea, there are some truly breathtaking locations that create timeless, natural photographs you'll treasure forever.

Here are my three favourite locations for a maternity photoshoot in West Sussex.

West Wittering Beach

If you're imagining golden sand, rolling dunes and spectacular sunsets, West Wittering is hard to beat.

It's easily one of my favourite locations for maternity sessions because it feels wonderfully open and peaceful. There is plenty of space to wander without feeling crowded, allowing us to create natural, relaxed photographs rather than anything overly posed.

The dunes add beautiful texture to your gallery, while the shoreline creates those dreamy reflections as the tide goes out. During golden hour, the light here is simply magical. We can be restricted in the summer due to the business of the Witterings but I do have another location up my sleeve which is nearby.

West Wittering works beautifully whether you're attending your session on your own, with your partner or bringing older children along too. Little ones love exploring the sand while we capture genuine moments together.

Worthing Beach

Worthing has a completely different feel, and that's exactly why I love it.

The long promenade, wooden groynes and expansive pebled shoreline create a beautifully understated backdrop that keeps the focus exactly where it belongs—on you and your growing baby.

Worthing is especially beautiful on calm evenings when the sea becomes still and the sky fills with soft pastel colours. It creates such a peaceful atmosphere, which often helps expectant mums feel relaxed during their session.

There are also plenty of quieter spots away from the busiest areas, allowing us to create intimate photographs without distractions.

If you're looking for natural maternity photographs with a relaxed coastal feel, Worthing offers a gorgeous setting.

Littlehampton East Beach

If you've never visited East Beach at Littlehampton, you're in for a treat.

It has a slightly wilder feel than many Sussex beaches, with sweeping sand dunes, grasses and wide open spaces that photograph beautifully throughout the year. There are lush beach huts, beautiful coffee stops (decaf or caffeine, there is no judgement here form this second-time mum) and ample parking.

The combination of beach, dunes and sea gives us so much variety during a single session. We can move between locations without travelling, creating a gallery that feels diverse whilst still remaining beautifully cohesive.

Sunset here is absolutely stunning. The warm evening light catches the grasses and creates the soft, glowing images that many families fall in love with.

For anyone dreaming of a relaxed beach maternity session, Littlehampton East Beach is one of the hidden gems of a maternity photoshoot in West Sussex.
